The quality of a vocal training only becomes apparent towards the end of a professional singing career
For me, professional singing is about reaching the retirement age of the respective voice category in a healthy voice. This can be the case for a soubrette in her early/mid-30s, for coloratura and lyric voices in their 40s, and for female singers with dramatic vocal potential often beyond the menopause. Male voices usually have a chance to sing into their 60s and beyond.
I use the same professional standards for teaching as I do for my own professional singing: I teach

  • student-centered
  • individually tailored to each singer and his or her stage of development singing technique, repertoire, and showing him or her ways to his or her own interpretation and thus a way into their own (singing) independence.
  • geared to the professional reality of the professional singer and professional teacher, enabling them to remain active in their profession for as long as possible
  • mindful, appreciative, holistic, solution- and resource-oriented in dialogical cooperation
  • regular further education and supervision are a matter of course for me
  • I value collegial exchange in the interest of the students and for the students at eye level with honesty

I reject event management for the profiling of teachers and "Schwarze Pädagogik".
At the ABPU (formerly the Bruckner Conservatory, Linz), there is a unique system for master's studies in voice major. Students have four voice major teachers. Three master class teachers (piano, bass, stage director - about 80% ECTS points) and one teacher of voice (about 20% ECTS points).
In the Bachelor's program, there is the wonderful opportunity to take  "Early Music"  with additional voice instructors parallel to the voice major. In this way, the young voice student can practice disembodied, vibrato-less singing and a classical voice treatment at the same time.

To my great regret, I have ended my teaching career at this institute at my own request at the end of the summer semester of 2022.

I am in the thirty-fourth year of my active, international singing career. This shows that my vocal education, whose processes I stand for and whose content I teach, has proven its quality.                                                                                                                           October 2022
